A lobby group says the city must act now to preserve a collection of works by the artist dubbed "the Michelangelo of Montreal".
About a thousand works by Guido Nincheri are stored in the city-owned Chateau Dufresne in the Hochelaga Maisonneuve district.
The Committee to Protect the Chateau Dufresne tells The Gazette that the building needs extensive repairs and water inflitration is a big risk for the drawings, some of them on paper.
The committee says the collection should be moved to a place that offers the proper storage conditions.
Nincheri died in 1973.
