The City of Montreal will be carrying out a test of the sirens that will sound in the event of an environmental disaster this afternoon.
The sirens are located near industries that use hazardous materials in 12 boroughs across the island.
They are designed to alert local residents in the event of a toxic spill or leak.
What to do in the event of a real enviromental incident:
The test is scheduled to take place at 2 p.m. and will be heard in parts of Ahuntsic-Cartierville, Anjou, Côte-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Lachine, LaSalle, Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, Montreal North, Rivière-des-Prairies-Pointe-aux-Trembles, Saint Laurent, St. Leonard, the South West borough and Ville-Marie.
The annual warning sirens test will take place between 2 p.m. Nov. 14. Subscribe to @MTL_Ville's Notices and Alerts to be alerted if a real event should occur! https://t.co/UC1gXZ41ij
