For the most part, the city of Montreal says it's business as usual when it comes to the ongoing snow removal job — even with Wednesday's snow and freezing rain.
There are a few exceptions, though — operations in the Anjou, Pierrefonds-Roxboro and LaSalle boroughs have been suspended for the time being.
City spokesperson Philippe Sabourin says, however, crews will do another go-around on some of the main streets.
"We're still doing the snow removal operation in the majority of the boroughs," Sabourin told CJAD 800 on Wednesday afternoon. "At the same time that we're doing the snow removal operations, we're spreading salt on the main streets and we're plowing the main streets, the major ones."
For the smaller, residential streets, he says they'll leave the snow there to absorb the freezing rain and rain expected over the next few hours.
Forecasts are calling for precipitation to continue right into Thursday afternoon. For the most part, we're expecting snow, except for a period from Wednesday evening until Thursday afternoon, when temperatures are expected to climb above the freezing mark, and we can expect to see freezing rain, rain, or both.
