Distracted driving is a problem in Quebec; provincial police have said it continues to kill more and more Quebecers each year.
Seeing someone behind the wheel of a car using a cellphone is not rare, you can see it almost every day.
But how often do you see someone on a motorcycle, checking their text messages?
A photo posted to social media appears to show just that, a motorcyclist with one hand on a cellphone while on the highway.
The original post said it was taken on Monday, between Montreal and Sainte-Adèle on Highway 15 south, while driving at about 110 km/h.
Since then, it has been going viral, especially among Quebec's motorcycle enthusiasts, after it was reposted to the Riders-Qc Facebook page.
Not only were commenters upset with the fact the motorcyclist is holding a cellphone while allegedly flying down the highway, many were quick to point out the t-shirt, shorts, running shoes and lack of gloves offer very little protection should he crash.
The photo has also caught the attention of Sûreté du Québec, which has since opened an investigation.
If the man is caught he could be given a $600 ticket and five demerit points. From there he could also be slapped with an additional $1,000 fine and four demerit points for risking the safety of other motorists.
