The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued an expanded recall of butter. The products, which were sold in Quebec, may be contaminated with Listeria.
The agency says that the following products should be thrown away or returned if they were purchased before July 22nd:
St. Laurent Butter (454g) and Light Butter (454g)
Buerre du Lac (454g)
Perron Butter (454g)
Nutrinor Butter (454g) and Light Butter (454g)
Food contaminated with Listeria often does not appear or smell different from uncontaminated butter, but it can still cause illness. Common symptoms include nausea and vomiting, as well as fever, headache, stiffness in the neck and muscle ache. Pregnant women and those with compromised immune systems are at more of a risk of sickness.
