It looks like you can add Celine Dion to the growing list of celebrities who are turning down offers to perform at Donald Trump's inauguration.
According to a report on TheWrap.com, a longtime friend of Trump's and Las Vegas-based hotel magnate, Steve Wynn, claimed he could get the Quebec-born superstar to sing for the U.S> president-elect — but in the end, was unable to.
Dion's people did not immediately respond to a request for comment from CJAD 800.
Organizers of Trump's inauguration festivities have had a notoriously hard time landing A-list celebrities to perform — even though Trump himself suggested, via Twitter, that he wants "the people" to attend his presidential inauguration.
"The so-called 'A' list celebrities are all wanting tixs to the inauguration, but look what they did for Hillary, NOTHING. I want the PEOPLE!", Trump tweeted late Thursday evening.
Earlier on Thursday, Trump's transition team announced that the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the Radio City Rockettes have been booked to perform — although a few Rockettes have voiced their displeasure about the gig online.
"Finding out that it has been decided for us that the Rockettes will be performing at the inauguration makes me feel embarrassed and disappointed," one of the Rockettes, Phoebe Purl, posted on Instagram. The post, which contained the hashtag #notmypresident, has since been taken down.
A suggestion that the Rockettes would be forced to perform at the event, or face the prospect of losing their jobs, ignited a firestorm on social media on Friday morning — but a statement issued by the troupe's managers later in the day said the individual Rockettes' participation would indeed be voluntary.
