If you drove past the CJAD 800 studios, or the CTV Montreal studios on Thursday, you probably noticed several people on the street corners ringing bells, asking you for money or canned goods.
The 17th edition of the Grande Guignolée des Médias, or the media's big holiday food drive, took place all day Thursday.
Several media personalities and local celebs turned out for the event, including the Montreal Impact's former captain Patrice Bernier.
"The media is helping to get funds to give back to people in need during this time of the year," said Bernier. "What you're giving will help families that are struggling or people that are struggling in poverty."
The organization behind the event has also set up dropoff points at Jean Coutu, Provigo and Maxi outlets throughout the Montreal area, which will be up and running through Christmas Eve. Last year, the event collected $3.2 million in donations which was used to help around 300,000 people.
