A new Léger poll for the Association des médecins vétérinaires du Québec (AMVQ) found there are more than 3 million cats and dogs in Quebec living in one out of every two households.
Cats have a slight edge in Quebec, 31 per cent of households surveyed said they live with at least one feline friend.
Dogs were found in 28 per cent of homes across the province and 10 per cent of homes had at least one of each.

The survey concludes the number of Quebec homes with at least one cat or dog has jumped from 42.6 per cent to 49 per cent over the past 20 years.
While cats may remain tops in Quebec, dogs continue to rule Canada.
At the national level dogs can be found in 42 per cent of homes, compared to 38 per cent of Canadian households with a cat.
