The Montreal Alouettes, sitting at 4-11 in the basement of the CFL's Eastern Division, have released two of their star wide receivers.
Duron Carter tweeted the news on Monday morning.
"Had fun Montreal!" Carter's tweet read. "Much love! Much will be said in the next few days...Sorry I can't help Montreal get back to the glory days."
Carter has been a member of the Alouettes since 2013 — except for 2015, which he spent on the Indianapolis Colts' practice squad.

The team also cut Carter's cousin, Kenny Stafford, who first played for the Alouettes in 2014, and then rejoined the team this season after a stint with the Edmonton Eskimos.
He also sent out some thank-you tweets on Monday morning.
"Thank you to the city and fans of Montreal it was good while it lasted," he wrote in one tweet. "Thank you to the organization of Montreal for allowing me to showcase my talent also thank you coach Jacques Chapdelaine," he wrote in another.
Both players apparently had trouble fitting into Montreal's offence under young quarterback Rakeem Cato.
