Police in Chateauguay are investigating after an errant car plowed through one home in the community of Lery, and then smashed into a second home.
The incident happened at around 12:30 a.m. on Lac St. Louis Rd. Police say a 23-year-old man lost control of his stolen car. He suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.
None of the other residents of the homes were injured. Those living near the crash say they were awakened by what they said sounded like an explosion.
"By a miracle there was a man in the first house and he was up, and that is actually his room, so he was making a coffee at midnight. So the car went right through his [bed]room and finished in the second house just beside the first house," said Nathalie Langevin with Chateauguay police.
Police say the driver of the car was travelling much faster than the posted speed limit of 30 km/h.
