Alex Galchenyuk avoided arbitration by signing a three-year contract with the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday.
The deal is reportedly worth nearly US$4.9 million per season.
The 23-year-old Galchenyuk, who was a restricted free agent, was drafted third overall by Montreal in 2012.
He had 17 goals and 27 assists in 61 games last season and added three assists in six playoff games after scoring 30 goals in the previous campaign.
The American-born forward has 89 goals and 204 points in 336 career NHL games.
