The Canadiens' forward was hit in the head Saturday night by a slapshot from the Bruins' Zdeno Chara, the 6-foot-9, 255-pounder who has the NHL's hardest slapshot, during a game at the Bell Center.
In a statement, Alain Danault also thanked well wishers.
His son, who's been released from hospital, lay on the ice for several minutes before being lifted onto a stretcher and taken away for treatment.
The scary incident occured with just 1:37 remaining in the second period in what turned out to be a 4-3 shootout loss for the Habs.
Players from both teams stood around a motionless Danault, as silence came over the packed Bell Center.
