An influential member of the US Democratic party said reopening the North American Free Trade Agreement means Canada would benefit as well.
Howard Dean was a guest on CTV's Question Period.
US President-elect Donald Trump vowed to rip up the deal or re-nogotiate it, adding it's not good enough for America.
But Prime Minister Trudeau says he's willing to re-open it.
As far as Dean's concerned, Canada shouldn't worry.
"There's not really a big reason to rip up NAFTA as far as Canada's concerned, I think it's less likely that that's gonna happen. Mexico, I think, there will be a problem", said Dean
He added killing NAFTA would lead to millions of US job losses.
Dean served as Governor of Vermont from 1991 to 2003 and Chair of the Democratic National Committee from 2005 to 2009.
