Canada's so-called “Prince of Pot” was in Montreal on Sunday with hopes of getting arrested.
Mark Emery, a longtime cannabis advocate was in the city to shed some light on the Quebec Cannabis Regulation Act.
Around noon Sunday, Emery set up a table outside the SQDC store on Ste Catherine St. with various items that promote cannabis.
Under Quebec’s cannabis regulation act, selling such items is illegal unless sold at an SQDC store.
Emery said he was trying to sell the items to prove a point calling the laws in Quebec hypocritical.
Two Montreal police officers showed up around 2:30 p.m. and threatened to charge him under a municipal bylaw that prohibits selling items outside without a permit.
Emery packed up without incident.
