If you've been expecting something in the mail, it won't be coming today.
The Canadian Union of Postal Workers announced the latest round of rotating strikes will hit Montreal Tuesday.
About 6,000 workers walked off the job, affecting not just the island of Montreal but the north and south shores including: Laval, Terrebonne, Châteauguay, Chambly, La Prairie, St-Bruno, and Beauharnois.
The strike action began at 10:30 P.M. Monday.
"Montreal is an important processing hub, so the union's rotating strike there will have a significant impact on our operations" Canada Post said in a statement. "Customers well beyond Montreal may see delays for parcel and mail delivery."
The union said it will continue to deliver pension and social assistance cheques.
The strike will remain in place until further notice.
When the rotating strikes were first announced the CUPW said they were to last 24 hours, however that has not been the case recently. Workers in Îles-de-la-Madeleine will be continuing their pressure tactics into Tuesday after they hit the picket lines late Friday.
Strikes are also expected to continue in Prince George and Lower Mainland of B.C., Peterborough, Lloydminster, Pickering, Oshawa, Thunder Bay, Winnipeg and Brandon.
