What makes a Quebecer a Quebecer? Is it language, poutine or a general understanding the roads will never truly be better than what they are?
Whatever it is two men claim to have the answer.
Jacques Nantel and Jean-Marc Leger, founder of the polling firm Leger, combed through decades of data, and spent years interviewing some of Quebec's top personalities and influencers.
They've put all that research into their latest book Cracking the Quebec Code: The 7 keys to understanding Quebecers.
While many politicians may try to convince you that Quebec is unique, and should therefore be treated differently, the book says French or English, Quebec or the rest of Canada; as much as 71 per cent of attitudes and behaviours are the same.
Of the differences, which Nantel and Leger maintain there are plenty of; Quebecers seem to place more value on the joy of living, or joie de vivre than the rest of our home and native land.
According to the book the characteristics that best describe a Quebecer are: joie de vivre, easygoing, non-committal, victim, villagers, creative and proud.
