Two brothers who run a bitcoin mining operation near Quebec City say they'll be beefing up security after a frightening robbery Monday night.
Five people who'd presented themselves as potential investors in Crypto Technologies in Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures tied up the brothers, sprayed them with bleach and hauled away $800,000 worth of computer equipment.
The brothers were able to free themselves and summon help after their attackers left.
They've now vowed to equip their converted warehouse with a state of the art security system.
La Presse reports that the robbery is being widely discussed in Quebec's crypto-currency circles, and other bitcoin miners are also vowing to become more security conscious. Some noted that Crypto Technologies had posted photos of its facility online, although the address was never mentioned.
