Montreal mayor Denis Coderre will not be able to present a united front when he speaks to an Auto Insurance Board consultation about "right on red" later today.
Coderre will present the first of some 70 briefs on various aspects of road safety. He has been vocal in his opposition to bringing right turns on red lights onto the Island of Montreal.
However, as the Journal de Montreal reports, three borough mayors have now broken with Coderre's position: Anjou's Luis Miranda, Manon Barbe of Lasalle and Normand Marinacci of Ile-Bizard.
They're siding with 15 suburban mayors who think Montreal drivers are ready to join the rest of the province in permitting right turns on red lights.
