Christine St-Onge, the Laval woman who was reported missing after failing to return home with her boyfriend from vacation in Los Cabos, Mexico has been found dead by Mexican authorities.
Her body was discovered “in the vicinity of her hotel,” yesterday morning at around 10am local time, according to state attorney Daniel de la Rosa Anaya, who made the announcement at a press conference, yesterday evening.
Local investigators found traces of blood and evidence of a domestic dispute inside the hotel room that St-Onge and her boyfriend Pierre Bergeron were using, and expanded the search to the surrounding area.
An autopsy, performed by the state attorney's office, found the cause of death to be a "traumatic brain injury," according to multiple Mexican online news sources.
St-Onge had been dead five to seven days.
The Sûreté du Quebec is waiting to perform its own autopsy before confirming the identity of the body, said Sgt. Claude Denis, spokesperson for the force.
Bergeron returned home alone, on December 6th; St-Onge was scheduled to be on the same flight. He took his own life one day later.
St-Onge was 41-years-old.
