About 300 people including some infants, had a rude awakening at about 3:00 A.M. Wednesday as the fire alarm in the apartment building went off.

According to firefighters the flames broke out in the basement of the Domaine d'Iberville at the corner of Joliette and Louisiana in Longueuil.
Firefighters got the flames under control quickly, but smoke managed to spread into a connected building.
No one was hurt; the cause of the fire is under investigation.
If you happened to be awake when the fire first broke out, you may have noticed a bit of a light show coming from the building.

The flashes were part of the buildings fire alarm system, which warned residents of the potential danger.
