Two Longueuil police officers and a bailiff were taken to hospital on Thursday morning, after the bailiff tried to deliver a summons to a 33-year-old man in Brossard.
The man is the owner of the pit bull that attacked and disfigured an eight-year-old girl a Brossard park in September 2015. He was supposed to appear in court this past November to answer to criminal negligence charges relating to the case, but he never showed up.
The bailiff showed up at the home on Marquise St. just after 7 o'clock on Thursday morning to deliver a summons to appear in court. The man apparently physically attacked the bailiff, prompting a 9-1-1 call. When police arrived, it seems he initially appeared to want to cooperate with officers, but then, he sucker-punched one of them, causing them to lose consciousness momentarily.
He's also said to have taken a swipe at the other officer.
All three were taken to hospital. Their injuries are considered minor.
