Quebec will be home to the first Babybel production plant in Canada.
The French group that makes the red-wrapped cheese snacks has chosen Sorel-Tracy, east of Montreal, for its new facility.
Milk produced by Canadian farmers will be processed into Mini-Babybel cheeses at the plant, which will be built at a cost of $87-million.
The company says between the facility in Sorel and its Canadian head office in Montreal, it will employ 170 skilled workers.
The property it chose in Sorel is right next door to the Chalifoux dairy, and the French company says it expects certain "industrial synergies."
