After a months long investigation into an alleged attempted baby abduction, Longueuil police have determined the incident never happened.
On June 12, a 35-year-old woman phoned police claiming a man tried to grab her child out of her stroller while she was walking along Marmier St. in Old-Longueuil.
The alleged incident happened following several other abduction attempts on the South Shore.
The next day police updated the case in a statement on its Facebook page, saying the alleged incident was not related to the other abduction attempts and that the woman and her child may have been targeted by someone who knew them.
In a statement, four months later, Longueuil police said "the complaint was unfounded and the event never happened."
Investigators said the woman will not be charged for the false report. Police have spoken with her family and have directed them to the social and psychological resources for help.
