Residents concerned about safety in the Southwest borough got some good news at the monthly council meeting Tuesday.
"We observed the comings and goings near the metro, and we can confirm the arrest of three people who were charged with robbery," Lt. Sylvain Malo of the Montreal police told the crowd.
It is not yet known if the three suspects were involved in the attack that sent 22-year-old Andre Hobson to hospital, or the other two robberies three nights later.
Police said there is two investigations open, with two groups of attackers working the area near the Saint-Henri Metro station. Investigators are trying to determine if either group has been active in another district.
Borough Mayor Benoit Dorais told the crowd last evening officials are working alongside police at Station 15.
"The gratuitous violence that we've experienced here in the borough recently is a matter of serious concern to us as it threatens our physical security and infringes on our quality of life and the sense of freedom in our neighbourhood," Dorais told CTV Montreal.
The borough is still warning resident to be vigilant when walking in the area, or down poorly lit streets, until more arrests are made.
