With election day less than six weeks away, the city of Montreal is advising would-be voters about the election process.
On Monday, a voters' list provided by Quebec's Director General of Elections was filed with the city archives — a list which is usually subject to revision before the election happens.
You should be receiving your voters' confirmation card in the mail between Oct. 7 and Oct. 19. If you don't get one, or need to make revisions, you will have to make them during that two-week period.
To be eligible to vote, you must be 18 years of age or older on voting day. You will also have had to have received Canadian citizenship by Sept. 1.
You will also have had to have been living within the limits of the city of Montreal since March 1, 2017 — or the sole owner of a property or sole occupant of a business establishment since at least Sept. 1, 2016. In those instances, you'll have had to have filed a written application for entry with the returning officer.
