Recreational marijuana isn't even legal or on sale yet and local drug dealers are already undercutting the government run pot shops.
When the drug goes on sale Wednesday, the Société québécoise du cannabis, or SQDC, will offer more than 100 products at various prices. The base price will be about $6 per gram.
In the days leading up to legalization though it looks like the black market, which the government is hoping to crack down on, has adjusted its pricing scheme.
According to the latest numbers on priceofweed.com, Montrealers have reported purchasing marijuana for as low as $4 per gram in recent days. Based on the average price listed online it appears that when pot goes on sale legally in Montreal on Wednesday, it could be anywhere between $40 and $100 more expensive per ounce than buying it on the street.
