If April showers bring May flowers, expect next month to be very colourful.
As of Monday, just 17 days into the month, the Montreal region had already been drenched with 110.4 millimetres of rain, nearly double the average for this time of year.
The record is 158 millimetres set back in 2005.
The bar could very well be raised by the end of this week, with Environment Canada calling for more of the wet stuff Wednesday through Friday, with a 40 per cent chance of showers on Saturday.
The rain, coupled with quickly melting snow (don't forget the historic snowfall that hit the city from March 14 to 15), has caused many rivers to keep officials on their toes.
The regional director for civil security for the Montreal region has said we could be in for the worst flooding in a decade.
