Just how much snow Montreal will see this week varies depending on the weather agency you check with, but one thing is for sure, there's a real good chance it's going to be a lot.
The system is projected hit the City late Tuesday into Wednesday, with Environment Canada issuing a Winter Storm watch Monday morning.
"A Colorado low will track over the Great Lakes Tuesday and become a major storm Wednesday. Snowfall amounts could exceed 15 centimetres over these areas by Tuesday evening," the agency said.
Strong winds are expected to create blowing snow and reduce visibility.
Meteorologists across various agencies are tracking the storm, with The Weather Network are calling for 15 - 20 centimetres of snow and Accuweather predicting between 20 - 35 centimetres of snow to be dumped on Montreal by the time the storm lets up Wednesday afternoon.
The good news: There's no freezing rain in the forecast following the snowstorm and it is expected to be sunny through to Sunday.
According to Environment Canada Montreal has received 60.8 centimetres of snow this month. By this time last year our snowfall total for January was 80 centimetres. The average over the previous four years was 34 centimetres.
