The AMT says it inspected its trains for bed bugs after a passenger reported a suspected sighting while traveling on the St-Jerome line on Thursday.
"We found the presence of [...] bugs on a little more than 20 cars on the St. Jerome line," Caroline Julie-Fortin with the AMT confirmed to CJAD News.
Four cars were removed from service and an exterminator was called in.
Luckily, testing confirmed Saturday evening that it was a false alarm.
"The bugs looked like bed bugs, but in fact we've just received confirmation [they were] weevils," said Julie-Fortin.
Unlike bed bugs, weevils don't feed on humans, preferring plants to the taste of blood. They are considered harmless to humans.
This was the first time the AMT has had a bed bug scare.
