After a dismal 7-11 season which ended last Friday, the Montreal Alouettes have announced that Jim Popp won't be back with the team next season.
Popp had been the team's general manager since the franchise was reborn in 1996, winning three Grey Cups and winning the CFL's eastern division eight times in 21 seasons.
Multiple reports suggest the split between Popp and the team was mutual.
In addition to his vice-president and general manager duties, Popp also served as interim head coach of the team six different times. He led the team to a 3-9 start this past season before making way for his wide receivers coach, Jacques Chapdelaine.
