Construction magnate Tony Accurso thinks he's waited long enough, and now wants a judge to issue a stay of proceedings in a fraud case.
Accurso faces four fraud-related charges in connection with contracts awarded by the city of Mascouche.
He and 14 other people including the mayor Richard Marcotte were arrested in April of 2012.
Marcotte died last year of cancer.
Radio Canada says Accurso's lawyer was in court Wednesday citing the Jordan decision on trial time limits, to argue that there had been an unreasonable delay in getting the case to trial.
It is scheduled to begin next January 8, some six years after the arrest and despite Accurso's decision to waive his right to a preliminary hearing.
The Crown says the delay was reasonable given the complexity of the case.
The judge has reserved judgement.
Accurso is also charged with fraud in Laval and that case is set to get underway this fall.
