If you saw a big multi-vehicle accident at John Abbott College this afternoon, we hope you didn't panic.
It was a simulation that's part of the CEGEP's annual Open House.
The simulation involved a drunk driving scenario with a car crashing into another with two people in it.
They deal with high-tech equipment, including mannequins playing the role of the victims with one that's ejected from the car, mannequins that can speak and even bleed.
Matthew Morin, simulation coordinator for the pre-hospital emergency care program, said it's a valuable and practical exercise with information that can't be taught and learned the same way in a classroom.
"Whether instabating, just the skills of assessing a patient, these are the things that are going to be very important for them to learn and pply and not just sit and passively learn some theory about it."
Morin added they want students to also learn to deal with other professionals in an emergency situation so students in nursing, paramedecine, police technology and theatre are taking part - the first time four departments are involved in a simulation.
