A lot of people will be heading out to Christmas parties over the next few weeks and more often than not, those parties involve some wine or beer and maybe even an open bar.
The SQ says it and other police forces will be out and will be very visible on the roads, to make sure no one has too much to drink and then gets behind the wheel.
They've kicked off what they're calling Operation Vaccin.
From now through January 2nd, police will be stepping up patrols and spotchecks.
"We'll be joined by numerous partners, but the most important partner is you," said SQ spokesman Daniel Thibodeau. "The family member or friend of someone who's had too much or someone who's planning on celebrating this year, make sure they have a plan before setting out."
He says that plan can involve a designated driver, taxi, Nez Rouge.
"Even a night on someone's couch, sure beats the heck out of a night in a holding cell."
Nez Rouge (web | iPhone app | Android app) starts its services for the year on Friday.
