Montreal police are trying to piece together what little information is known about the City's 23rd homicide of the year.
At about 8:00 P.M. a passerby called police after finding a man on the ground in front of a home on Pierre-Tétreault St., near Hochelaga St. in Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve.
The 51-year-old man had been shot multiple times in the upper body. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition but later died of his injuries.
The victim was known to police.
A search of the area turned up a firearm nearby, it's not yet known if it is the same weapon used in the shooting.
No suspect has been identified.
