The 41-year-old man who was the subject of an Amber Alert involving his six-year-old boy is now facing a murder charge.
He was charged Monday with the second-degree murder of the child's 41-year-old mother. She was found dead Thursday afternoon in their St. Eustache home, right around the same time the father and son fled and an Amber Alert was declared.
CJAD 800 News is not identifying the suspect, victim or their child, because the six-year-old is in the care of the Ontario Ministry of Social Services.
Meanwhile, the SQ are still searching for a 71-year-old man, Yvon Lacasse, whose car was believed to have been used by the suspect while he was on the run — driving to Lachute, Rouyn-Noranda and Maniwaki before his arrest Friday afternoon in eastern Ontario.
The suspect remains in an Ottawa hospital being treated for what's thought to have been self-inflicted injuries over the weekend.
