About a thousand striking daycare workers took to the streets of Montreal this morning after contract negotiations with the government broke down last Thursday.
About 11,000 daycare workers affiliated with the CSN walked off the job on Monday, leaving the parents of 21,000 children scrambling to make other daycare arrangements.
They're expected to be back on the job on Tuesday.
Among the sticking points in their dispute are cutbacks to benefits, pension contributions, and a government proposal to raise the retirement age from 60 to 61.
The daycare workers have been without a contract since 2015.
