The latest financial report from Quebec's Green Fund shows it is having only marginal success at reducing the province's carbon footprint despite investments totalling more than a billion dollars.
La Presse reports that the 19 projects launched since 2013 have cut greenhouse gas emissions by just 600,000 tons, or 0.7%.
The $1.2-billion spent so far went to programs encouraging energy efficiency and reduced reliance on automobiles.
The fund is financed largely by automobile owners, who contribute about four cents for every litre of gasoline purchased.
