Police in Laval say a police operation which snarled traffic at the beginning of Tuesday's evening rush hour is over.
Just before 3:30 p.m., police say a man armed with a gun was spotted on Highway 440 at Des Laurentides Blvd.
One witness told CJAD 800 News she could see a man standing next to a small parked car on the side of the overpass, holding a gun.
About an hour after the standoff began, police managed to neutralize the man and put him in handcuffs.
As the standoff went on, Des Laurentides Blvd. had been closed between D'Edimbourg and De La Station Sts., while a section of the 440 was closed between the Rene-Laennec and Industriel exits.
Police suggest it might take a while, possibly the duration of the rush hour, before traffic flows freely again in the area.
